An Easy Fix for Broken Ethernet Plugs http://www.wiring-ducts.com/an-easy-fix-for-broken-ethernet-plugs/ http://www.wiring-ducts.com/an-easy-fix-for-broken-ethernet-plugs/#comments Thu, 10 Jun 2010 01:01:31 +0000 numbo http://www.wiring-ducts.com/?p=1091 Have you ever broken the connector on an Ethernet cable, but didn’t want to go out and buy a replacement? If you only have one or two broken cable heads, it’s probably not worth it to find a crimper and new RJ45 connectors. This quick, clever, and inexpensive cable tie hack from Instructables makes quick work cable gland of repairing a snapped Ethernet connector with a razor, cutting pliers, and two cable ties.

Measuring the cable ties is very important: a head width of 4.33 mm is the right size to properly snap into the RJ45 socket and  cable terminal be removable with only a bit of resistance. After sizing, cut down the head of the cable tie to make it flat, then attach the tie to the cable with the second tie. With a little bit of adjusting and bending, you should get cable clamp the repaired plug to produce that satisfying “click” as it’s inserted into the RJ45 jack on your cable duct laptop or desktop!

Fire Damage Prevention http://www.wiring-ducts.com/fire-damage-prevention/ http://www.wiring-ducts.com/fire-damage-prevention/#comments Tue, 11 May 2010 02:07:50 +0000 numbo http://www.wiring-ducts.com/?p=1053 In applications such as data centers cable duct and phone switching stations, and other areas where large concentrations
of electronics exist, there is concern  that the smoke from even a small fire could travel to other areas and
damage or affect the performance of nearby equipment. The
mechanics of how wire duct  this damage may occur and the extent of
the damage possible from corrosive smoke are not entirely
clear, as industry research on cabling and digital equipment
showed13
. However, companies can reduce the potential risk
by specifying halogen-free products as part of a fire damage
prevention strategy. A halogen-free wiring duct will not produce
any significant corrosive gases during combustion.
method IEC 60754-2 will verify a product is wall duct halogen free by
determining the amount of corrosive gases present during
combustion.
