DI teams holding fundraising events
Their challenge was to find a need in their community, create a project to help that need and incorporate music into it. The kids came up with wiring duct lots of ideas to help the community, but two major topics that kept coming up were saving money and being green. One of them made the connection that they could also incorporate their love a reading and promote the library as an economical and eco-friendly place for kids cable duct and families.
The students composed original lyrics of “Read, read, read your book” to the tune of “Row, row, row your boat” and used their musical instruments – trumpet, saxophone, trombone, keyboard, drums and Euphonium – to accompany.
The students made plastic trunking a commercial that aired on the town’s cable access station and sent flyers out through the schools to publicize their event: a “Festival of Reading,” in which cable duct local kids were invited to make bookmarks, read plastic trunking books, act out books and let kids sit in the “chair of reading,” which they made out of duct tape and recycled cardboard.
The best part about this year was the fact the kids were able to take all Destination ImagiNation has taught them about being creative, solving problems wiring duct and working together and apply it to the community in a positive fun way.
