Faulty wiring is the cause of Columbia basement fire
COLUMBIA — Fire investigators say faulty electrical wiring was the cause of an early Friday morning fire in the 1300 block of Worley Street in Columbia.
Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly before 2 a.m.
Fire crews were able to knock the fire down in less than five minutes after they found light smoke coming the upstairs area casino online of the home.
Investigators found about $7,000 worth of damage in the basement.
Some smoke damage occurred throughout the home.
Five people were inside the home at the time of the fire.
All of them escaped safely along with two dogs.
No one called 911.
One occupant of the home walked one block to fire station number 2 where they reported the fire to firefighters.
