Those were the main points
Those were the main points covered in Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting. The board’s main point of action was to vote on the district’s Citizens Review Committee recommendation to allocate $11 million in money left over wiring duct from the 2009 General Obligation Bond for Agua Fría and another $6.12 million toward Aspen.
Agua Fría — which Superintendent Bobbie Gutierrez acknowledged is in the most need of structural renovation — already has about $9 million in bond money earmarked for construction purposes. The additional cable duct $11 million will ensure the school moves toward becoming a functional, safe K-8 down the line.
“We want a good school,” said board vice-president Mary Ellen Gonzales, of Agua Fría. “I don’t want any more baling wire and duct tape cable trunking holding it together.”
The board voted 4-0 for the funding. Board member Angélica Ruiz, who took part in the first half of the meeting via telephone conference call, was not available via phone and thus did not vote on Agua Fría.
